Mersey Hampers was born out of friendship, shared experiences and a passion for supporting local businesses.

Co-founders Sam and Michael grew up in the same village on Merseyside, but their paths took different directions after Sam moved to the North East in 2012.

Over the years, they stayed in touch, catching up every now and then over a pint. While Michael pursued a successful career in Business Analysis, Sam started Coastal Hampers, a business that flourished by partnering with small, independent businesses in the North East.

The company grew rapidly, particularly during lockdown, when it fulfilled an order of over 12,000 hampers for a single client. Coastal Hampers now proudly supports over 70 local businesses in the region.

In mid-2024, after Michael welcomed his first child, he reached out to Sam with an exciting idea: to create a similar venture in their hometown. With Sam’s experience in the hamper business and Michael's expertise in business analysis, the pair quickly realised the potential of this new opportunity.

A conversation over coffee sealed the deal, and Mersey Hampers was born.
